I have this photo as the background on my computer and just can't stop admiring it (maybe because it's going to snow tomorrow, so nights like this still seem far, far away...). Looks like a perfect evening for a ski. Below are a few more sunset photos for your enjoyment. I will stop hogging the blog now. Eagle Lake Calendar - Does not come w/loons :(

Hello! I decided to use the blog for a bit of personal web development training. The result is an online Eagle Lake Calendar. I thought it might be useful for us to have a central calendar that we can update - not to replace our Loon calendar (of course!), but to use for planning.

I believe you need to use Google Calendar in order to edit this, so if you're interested you should sign up for that. Then all you need to do is visit the blog, click on the Google Calendar icon and update! Be sure to Bookmark our blog for easy access. :)

This year's first winter excursion to Eagle Lake was a success, if you define success as killing nature then drinking in celebration. Our hats are off to Sir Peter Hoffman. After the chain saw spun out of control, maiming Huck and leaving Ted with only one good eye, Pete fearlessly took up the saw used by Paul Bunyan himself, and for the next 7 hours battled versus the oak before it finally fell before him. Pat would have helped relieve him, but he claimed to be running into town to grab a movie. Curiously, he returned with a tanned glow. Alli was inside doing woman's work (whatever that might be). It was an epic battle, but we were victorious over the oak.

Nah, that didn't happen. The tree came down in about three minutes, and after that we didn't quite know what to do. Good thing we brought the Jamison.

Pat's Winter Excursion

Zomer is finally getting the chance to experience Eagle Lake in the dead of winter (and Ted and I get to tag along for the ride). Think of us this weekend as we tromp through the snow, and escape to Coach's in search of fine dining. Hopefully no one has broken in to steal the toilet paper this year.

Putting in the Dock

I can't say I have much experience with this. Two years ago Seth and I shouted directions from the shore, dipping our toes in the icy water now and then to hand Doug and Steve a section of the dock. No, this cold and thankless job has usually fallen to the older men of the family, and even they have wised up - I believe the new tradition will be to hire out the putting in and taking out of the docks. Will anyone miss it? Will a new generation step up and reclaim the ritual? It sure is a good reason for a mid-afternoon shot of whiskey...for some, that might just be reason enough. - Angie
